It’s important not to get too carried away with these early games of the season, however from the last two games there is so many reasons to be positive about what’s to come this season. The excitement is mainly coming from two players in particular, alongside the amazing Stewart Downing.
The first player to mention is Diafra Sakho, when it was announced West Ham were finally signing him after a lengthy transfer deal that could of ended in disaster it’s fair to say the majority of fans were cautious. Another striker from the French second division and the first thing that sprang to mind was, I really hope this is not a Maiga.
So what do we know about Sakho, he’s scored 4 in 4 so he’s got an eye for goal we know that much, he came from the French club Metz where he scored 44 in 114 appearances. He has proved a lot of fans wrong already and now we are all excited to see how far he can go, as he did of course set himself the ambitious target of scoring a goal every home game. He is also only 24 which a great boost as hopefully he can have a long career with West Ham.
Sakho is having the help of our big summer signing Enner Valencia, someone who has made a major impact already. His goal against Hull was world class and showed exactly why he was signed. Not only can he score goals like that, he is great in the air which is quite surprising as he’s not the tallest striker and he is always running up and down to help the team out. What more could we ask for right now? Valencia is also only 24 so hopefully he can also build a successful career with West Ham.
What I like best at the moment is they both have a huge amount of ambition for the club, which is great, together I hope they become a great strike partnership for West Ham. Right now is there a place for Andy Carroll, absolutely not and he wouldn’t suit how we’re playing, so seeing how Sam deals with that will be fans biggest indication of his future with the club.
