Press Conference Live Blog

5:10 PM: That’s finally it from us here at The London Stadium, I hope that you have enjoyed the new Manager’s first West Ham United Press Conference word for word, we again apologise for the lack of visual enlightenment this afternoon although the pictures should appear soon after we have ironed out a technical glitch and hope that you will join us again next week as Moyes speaks before his first game in Claret & Blue, a trick Premier League trip to Vicarage Road, until then, thank you and goodbye.

On The Formulation Of His Backroom Team:

” I have spoken to Stuart (Pearce) and others, I will know for sure by next week”.

On The Claret & Blue Army:

” We have passionate supporters here, they don’t take any you know what and I had the same in Liverpool”.

On Slaven Bilic’s discipline:

” I would never criticise other Managers, I am here now, you don’t run, you don’t play, if you’re not fit, you don’t play”.

On The Expectations Of The Fans And The Board:

” Sam said “what is The West Ham Way?”, we need to find a winning formula”.

” It’s The Owners’ money, they have opinions”.

” (The level of fan engagement) it’s different to what i’m used to”.

On His Time Away From The Game:

” Over the last few months, I have watched Football, I have been Coaching in Scotland, this (Managing) is what I do, I want to win”.

On His Early Relationship With The Players:

” There will be no favours, I’m in a hurry and they should be too”.

” My best attribute is training the players, we are running the least in The PL and they need to take responsibility”.

” I have talked to Mark and three or four other players, he has a great passion for the club and the fans”.

On The Involvement Of The Younger Stars:

” I watched The England U17s in India and was impressed, Pl Squads are cluttered, maybe ours is as well, we need to find room to fit young players in”.

On Earlier Criticism From Karren Brady Over His “You Might Get A Slap” Comment

” Nowadays, there are so many avenues to voice an opinion, the best thing to do is win games”.

” She did not discuss it with me, it was written six months ago and I enjoyed my time with her in the meetings”.

” I spoke to Karren in meetings and I made a mistake at the time, I also apologised at the time”.

On Fans’ Reaction To His Appointment:

“But, the players have to show that they are worthy and I must get the team ready, games come thick and fast”.

” I don’t read people’s comments and I want to say to fans that, I will do everything that I can to get us up the Table”.

” People are entitled to their opinions and you will not please everybody all of the time, let’s get winning”.

On The Style That He Will Adopt:

” We need to keep a few clean sheets to start and find our best formation”.

” I love to see goals and exciting attacking play from teams”.

” My ambitions are only on winning games short-term , I have a point to prove and something to repair”.

On Taking The Role And His Previous Managerial Ventures:

” Yes, this was an easy decision to make, this is a top club with a top Stadium and over 50,000 Season Ticket holders”.

” I said before that Sunderland was a mistake, I started well in my Career at Preston, I was lucky to get the Job I did at Everton, my time at Manchester United was well documented, I enjoyed my time in Spain and I came back and made a mistake”.

On His First Few Days At Rush Green:

” The players were good and they had good attitudes”.

” We trained yesterday and today, with U23 players and about ten of the first-team”.

On The Dismissal Of His Predecessor:

” Results count and I was happy to see that the fans loved their Manager, I thank Slav for his efforts”.

” I was sad to see him lose his Job, but it’s good for me”.

” There is a very strong Squad here, Slav is one of my dearest friends and he worked well”.

On His Past Memories Of The Club:

” Upton Park was a very tough place to play Football back in the day, and I don’t see any reason why it should not be like that here and now”.

On His Own Appointment And The Length Of His Initial Contract:

” It gives me a chance to see East London and the club are getting to see what David Moyes does”.

” The future Managers will only be signing short-term”.

” It’s good for me and it’s good for West Ham United, they have a great Manager”.

” I was contacted, I said yes to being interested, I had meetings and now I’m here”.
