Tottenham Hotspur Premier League 2 Clash Called Off

It has been announced this afternoon that tonight’s PL2 encounter between West Ham United U23s and Tottenham Hotspur U23s at The Chigwell Construction Stadium has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The decision was made after a pitch inspection earlier today, in the wake of a weekend of snow and icy conditions in that region, something that has made both the interior and exterior of The Ground a potentially hazardous area.

As well as rendering the field of play unusable, a rearranged date for the fixture is expected to be arranged by both clubs and The League in the next few days of this week.

Terry Westley’s side were gearing up for their third meeting in all Competitions with The Lilywhites, having already faced off with them in The League and The Premier League International Cup this season.

Those two occasions brought very different results with them, one resulting in an impressive 2-3 away victory for the young Hammers in North London, while the other was a 7-2 thrashing in favour of Wayne Burnett’s men held at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium.

The wintry weather had threatened many ties across The Football League and Premier League over the weekend, snow could also be seen falling from the sky in both the Manchester and Merseyside Derbies yesterday.

More abonnements are also expected over the next week, especially at Non-League level and in Stadiums that are not equipped with state of the art features like modern undersoil heating.

This was the problem this evening at Victoria Road, a venue in which The U23s have used as a permanent home since the beginning of last season, with a partly frozen playing surface.

This means that Westley’s Claret & Blue starlets will be forced to wait until a week’s time, in all likelihood, for their next taste of action, an away trip to go toe-to-toe with fourth-placed Everton in Southport.

Meanwhile, The North Londoners will face off with Sunderland in Stevenage the night after, in their next outing, The Spurs and The Hammers sit 12th and fifth respectively in The Premier League Two Division One Table.

Whereas, Dagenham & Redbridge’s home Ground will host its next tie on Friday night, when Steve Potts’ West Ham United U18s face off with Blackpool in The Third Round Proper of the 2017/2018 Football Association Youth Cup, weather permitting, of course.
