QPR vs West Ham

Match Preview

Tomorrow will see West Ham make a trip down to London rivals QPR. This will be the first time West Ham has played QPR since 2004 and a lot has happened to both clubs since then. In recent times we have seen both clubs been taken over by wealthy owners, QPR by Tony Fernandes and West Ham by David Gold and David Sullivan.

However this means nothing when you look at the how the teams shape up to each other. QPR went on a summer signing spree this sumer when they bought in 8 players in the form of; Jose Bosingwa (free), Junior Hoilett (free), Ji-Sung Park (3.1m), Fabio (loan), Robert Green (free), Andy Johnson (free), Ryan Nelsen (free) and Julio Cesar (1m). It is quickly evident that all but 3 of these players cost QPR nothing and some of these signing could be considered great signings. For example you have Hoilett who was doing great last season for Blackburn and was linked with club such as Arsenal during the transfer window. They also have our ex-keeper in Robert Green. We all know what Rob is capable of and he hasn’t got off to the best of starts at his new club. To make matters worse he has apparently been told that he can leave the club on a free after Sparky bought in Julio Cesar. This does seem a bit of a spectacular signing but he is getting on a bit now and is not going to be like he was in his prime.

By no means though have West Ham wasted the summer. We have bought Matt Jarvis (10.75m), Andy Carroll (loan), Jaaskelainen (free), Diame (free), Benayoun (loan), Maiga, Diarra (2m) and Collins (2m). When I look at our new signings to theirs I would definately say we have better quality. We have an England international in Carroll who is more than capable of scoring goals. There is also Diame who is a powerhouse and has impressed hammers fans on numerous occasions. You also have to look at where we are in the table compared to them. We currently sit in a very healthy 10th place as opposed to their 20th. That for itself just shows the sort of quality we have bought in compared to them.

There are a few injury problems for both sides though. QPR are without four defenders tomorrow with Anton Ferdinand, Jose Bosingwa, Fabio and Armand Traore all injured. The Hammers however have no new injury concerns with just Jack Collison missing through a knee injury. Andy Carroll could make a return however after David Gold claiming on Twitter earlier on today that it is not impossible, it is likely that he will be on the bench though.

So do I think that West Ham can beat QPR tomorrow. Well, yes I do as QPR are still looking for their first win of the season drawing 2 and losing 3. Whereas West Ham have only lost 1 game and won 2 and drawn 2. Also with all their injury concerns they are missing key players so we should really be ripping their defence apart, especially if Andy Carroll plays. We all know we are more than capable of winning but you can never be too sure in the game of football.

Likely line up: Jussi, Demel, Collins, Reid, Taylor, Diame, Jarvis, Nolan, Noble, Vaz Te, Cole.
