Tottenhan vs West Ham

Match Report

West Ham fans began to contemplate Andy Carroll, despite grabbing his first goal for the club, as they were defeated 3-1 at White Hart Lane subject to a Defoe brace and a Gareth Bale tap in.

Spurs started the game off best as they piled pressure onto West Ham, who have one of the best defensive records in the league. Former Hammer, Jermaine Defoe was on target numerous times, however, Finish keeper, Jussi Jaaskelainen was there to keep him out. It was Defoe who opened the scoring before half time, which sent West Ham into the second half feeling glum. The second half was much the same as the fiery encounter between the two London sides created a spectacle to watch, with West Ham making a lot of noise. Despite West Ham’s dominance in the stands, they went down 2-0 as Welsh winger, Gareth Bale, hit the back of the net. Defoe then scored again to make it 3-0 and his second, making the score line very worrying for West Ham manager Sam Allardyce who went on to blame the defence’s troubles.

As West Ham fans started to get on Northerner, Andy Carroll’s back, he then lashed back with a goal which sent the Hammers faithful into raptures despite being 3-1 down. West Ham fans created a very loud environment as White Hart lane as they out-sang Tottenham all day long.

West Ham have been left rocked by their performance, despite an amazing start to the Premier League season, so far. The Hammers currently sit 8th, and just two points away from 5th. Tottenham, who now have the bragging rights despite getting thrashed by Arsenal last weekend, now sit one spot above West Ham as they hold 20 points.

West Ham had a mere 35% of the ball possession in this game, as they were brutally beaten by their London counterparts, Tottenham, who had 65%. A game that was spectated by 36,043 people saw a Tottenham win and three yellow cards which were shown to Defoe, Joey O’Brien and Mark Noble.

West Ham will be looking to improve vastly as they take on Manchester united this Wednesday.
