West Ham Defender linked with move

Transfer News

With West Ham getting off to a great start this season it is no surprise that one of their players is being linked with a move away from Upton Park. However this player is not one of our high flying new signings but is defender James Collins.

Collins has attracted the attention of former manager, Sam Allardyce, who is currently in charge of Sunderland. He is seen as the man to patch up their leaky defence as they look to fight their way away from relegation. Collins has fallen down the pecking order somewhat at West Ham with Ogbonna joining in the summer. This coupled with the form of James Tomkins, sees Collins viewed as the fourth choice centre back at West Ham.

The defender was regular feature in Allardyce’s team last year, often putting his body on the line for the team with shot stopping blocks. He is also a physical player, not often beaten in the air, and would be useful asset to Sunderland.

I think with Collins falling down the pecking order, a January sale could well and truly be on the cards. If we get a good price for him then I would look to sell, as this money could be put towards the price for Lanzini should his deal become permanent.
