West Ham United captain Mark Noble has praised manager Manuel Pellegrini while discussing the team’s aims for the season.
Noble has been forced to sit out the last two games after being sent off in the heroic draw at Leicester City.
West Ham were dumped out of the cup by Spurs but bounced back with a 4-2 win over Burnley last time out.
There are signs with each passing week that things are coming together under Pellegrini.
‘The manager has done fantastic’
The Hammers are playing an attacking brand of football under Pellegrini.
And despite a Premier League-worst injury list they are moving in the right direction in the table too.
An added bonus has been the emergence of young stars too.
The likes of Declan Rice, Grady Diangana and young centre back Issa Diop have shone.
And speaking on Sky Sports News Noble has praised Pellegrini for being brave enough to build his team around to youth while delivering his verdict on where the Hammers can aim to finish this season.
‘Seeing Dec and Grady gives young players an incentive’
“Things have definitely slowly turned around,” Noble told Sky Sports News.
“With Dec and Grady coming in I think it’s important for the club to get them sort of players in the team (and) to keep bringing youth players through because it gives an incentive to the younger players to really have a go because they know they’re going to come through.
“I think the manager has done that fantastic, he’s brought Grady in and put him on against Spurs at a tough time and believed in him and it just shows you what the Academy staff are doing.”
‘The football we’re playing now, we take the game to teams’
Noble feels West Ham can aim as high as seventh which would mean a European place.
“Obviously after the tough start we had, we had a lot of people saying a lot of negative comments. But I think the way we’re playing football now and the way we’re taking the game to teams as well like Chelsea at home, Manchester United at home, we played fantastic in them games.
“I think the league is so tight apart from maybe the top six who are going to run away I think. The rest of us are in a battle between 13th and ninth. Or probably even a little bit higher like seventh so we’ll see.
“As long as we keep winning games we’ll be fine.”
