Prior to joining West Ham, Wilshere spent 17 years at Arsenal. That included 10 years as a senior player.

In that time, the 34-cap England international would have played with a number of world class players.

But he believes Arnautovic can challenge them as he has the natural talent.

In his 10 years with Arsenal’s first-team, Wilshere played alongside some incredible players.

The Gunners have had Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang among others.

However, Wilshere is adamant that Arnautovic is similarly talented to these top class players.

The Austrian international joined West Ham from Stoke City in summer 2017. And he recovered from a slow start to score a vital 11 league goals to keep the Hammers up.

This season, he has started strongly, netting four goals in seven league games.

Speaking about his 29-year-old team-mate, Wilshere said: “Arnautovic is some player. I’ve played with some strikers, great players.

“He is up there. He is right up there. Ability-wise, he’s powerful, got so much in his game.

“His attitude is brilliant. He’s a good character and is one of the leaders in the team as well.”

Wilshere is currently out injured and his return date in unknown. But it appears that he has built up a strong relationship with Arnautovic off the field.

And West Ham fans will be hoping that the pair can ignite that spark on the pitch. Consequently, this could help to inspire West Ham’s rise up the league table.
