Moan, moan, moan, that’s all we’ve heard from broken record Jose Mourinho for a while now but it’s quite the opposite with Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham United.
Manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world.
A total of £392 million spent since the summer of 2016 – and that’s not including free transfer signings of Alexis Sanchez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
A collection of players coveted across Europe and a World Cup winner in the heart of his midfield.
Yet all we hear is moans, gripes, tantrums and the latest accusations of press lies (Sky Sports).
It’s not just Manchester United fans that are growing sick of Mourinho.
The wider footballing world are too.
It is in stark contrast to the positive vibes coming out of East London where before a ball has even been kicked, Pellegrini has reinvigorated West Ham.
This charming man
He is still adored at the Etihad.
And it’s not just because he dragged them from out of the shadow of the Red Devils.
Pellegrini is universally liked by players, fellow managers, fans, pundits and the press.
But he is no soft touch.
This is a hugely ambitious man who has sacrificed living with his family in south America to quench his thirst for a successful career across Europe and beyond.
How to win friends and alienate people
While Mourinho makes enemies with his downbeat attitude, this charming man is winning friends.
Pellegrini is nobody’s fool but he conducts himself with class.
He will demand a certain standard from his employers, his staff and his players.
Moaning and groaning in public is not in his make-up, though, that’s for sure.
Watching Mourinho’s dour mood worsen with each passing week this summer really has made West Ham fans realise just how lucky they are to have Pellegrini.
