Dmitri Payets injury was a massive blow for West Ham United. No doubt he has been THE key man in the clubs impressive start, and to lose him for three months, is a big loss.
So who do we pick to replace the influential Frenchman? Does Slaven Bilic change a formation that has worked so well this season? Do we have the personnel to adapt and replace our best player?
For me, there are two options.
One, Sakho comes in, and we play two up front in a diamond formation, Lanzini playing just behind them, with Moses and Kouyate playing in front of Noble. However, my problem with that is that Moses is a wide man and doesn’t really fit the formation.
The second option, is to keep the same formation, let Lanzini fill the Payet role, and bring in Michael Antonio on the wing, and give the man a chance to stake a claim. With him being left out in the cold, I feel he may have a point to prove, and it may raise his game enough to get the best out of him.
Bilic has moved Sakho out wide before too, but this is not his best position, although he does have the work rate and pace to trouble players in this position.
Whatever happens, I trust Bilic to pick the right team. What option would you choose?
