The Hammers Transfer Rumours Roundup: Dendoncker Deal A “Possibility” As Mario Opportunity Knocks

As the January Transfer Window begins to wind to a close, it’s time we took a look at the very latest West Ham United Transfer speculation, this week, a certain Anderlecht prodigy’s name won’t stop being mentioned, as well as a former European champion.

Hammers Ramp Up Mario Pursuit

It has been reported by the Daily Mail in the last 24 hours that discussions over a possible deal to bring Inter Milan man Joao Mario to the London Stadium have begun again.

It had been rumoured earlier in the month that the forward player, a winner of the 2016 European Championships in France with Portugal, wasn’t open to a move to the Premier League.

But, it’s now understood that he has changed his mind amid a frustrating lack of recent game time in Serie A, having made his move to Internazionale from Sporting Lisbon in 2016.

Mario has featured just 14 times in the League in black and blue this season and the signing of Rafinha from Barcelona, a similar style of player to him, has reportedly made him want out of Italy.

The type of Transfer that seems to be being mentioned the most is a loan deal, with an initial fee of around £1.3 million and the club paying his wages for the entirety.

The agreement of a summer sum and a permanent contract has also been talked about, though it’s clear that if the East Londoners want their man, they must act fast in the wake of rumours of recent severe injuries to first-team stars Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic.

Irons Keep Close Dendoncker Tabs

It has been speculated by Sky Sports this week that the club are “very” interested in a move for young Belgian International and Anderlecht man Leander Dendoncker.

According to Media outlets in Belgium, Hammers Assistant Manager Stuart Pearce was in the Country on Sunday afternoon to watch the starlet take on Genk away from home.

Dendoncker has been pursued by the likes of Manchester United in recent months, but according to many, the Irons are now the frontrunners to land his signature in this Window.

The 22-year-old is a centre-back by nature, an area that David Moyes has seen weakened by injuries in recent times with the likes of Jose Fonte and Winston Reid side-lined, but will he be able to secure the services of the young talent?

Former Everton Man Linked To East London

According to reports from HITC and murmurs in Spain, Moyes is close to landing Barcelona star and man that worked under him at Goodison Park, Gerard Deulofeu.

The winger has over 50 Premier League appearances under his belt as well as a handful of caps for the Spanish National Team, netting twice in 17 showings in all Competitions for Barca in this campaign.

He is not the first midfielder, an area that the Hammers Boss has not been afraid to admit needs to be strengthened, to be linked to the London Stadium in the last few weeks.

Names such as Steven Nzonzi of Sevilla, Deulofeu’s teammate Andre Gomes, Newcastle United man Jonjo Shelvey, Stoke City star Joe Allen and Real Betis’ Fabian Ruiz have all been circulated, will any of them complete deals before January is out?

Clubs Queue For Injured West Ham Striker

A number of French teams are reportedly all vying for the signature of currently side-lined Senegalese forward Diafra Sakho according to Football London.

Bordeaux are understood to be leading the race and their President is “confident” about tying up a deal for him in the coming weeks, a move backed by new Manager Gus Poyet.

The likes of Marseille and Nice are also interested according to French Media outlets, there have also been murmurs of Rennes, who almost captured Sakho last summer, having a bid rejected.

Earlier in the Window, West Ham’s English Top-Flight rivals Crystal Palace also showed interest in him, though that deal never materialised, the striker has scored close to 20 times in over 50 games in East London.
