West Ham United have been busy this summer and that is not lost on Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.

The Hammers have appointed Manuel Pellegrini and backed him with £100 million of new players.

It is a far cry from previous windows.

West Ham fans have been angered by a meagre £10 million net spend since the move to the London Stadium.

Things are different this year, though, and Hammers fans are loving it.

Ten new players have arrived and West Ham’s business has been met with widespread approval.

‘They’ve put their money where their mouth is’

And that includes Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson who ranks West Ham’s dealings as second only to title hopefuls Liverpool.

Assessing every club’s transfer business on Sky Sports, Merson awarded the Hammers an A grade and picked out the signings of Jack Wilshere and Lukasz Fabianski as highlights.

“They’ve had a go,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“They’ve got Jack Wilshere on a free and people are wondering if he’ll stay fit but you’ll be surprised by how many games he plays.

Fabianski a popular pick

“I like their business, they’ve put their money where their mouth is this time around and brought in a better quality of player.

“There are a couple of players who will need time to settle, they’re coming from places where the football is a lot different. Lukasz Fabianski was great last season and I like their business.”

Merson is not the only one who has highlighted the signing of Fabianski either.

Merson’s fellow Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas and former West Ham star Dean Ashton feel the same.

Given the goalkeeping problems the East Londoners had last season, fans will be hoping they are right,
